03/22/25 - We came here to celebrate our friend's birthday. It was a perfect day in San Diego to be by the harbor. We made reservations and sat outside. It got a little cool and windy but they had warmers on top of the tables and also provided us a with a blanket. Nice touch! Staff was so nice and our host Korrine was so attentive and accommodating. Loved her! We ordered the following: * Bowl of clam chowder - Soooooo good. Not a lot of potatoes but good amount of clams. Loved eating it with the sourdough bread that they provide complimentary. Big serving compared to other restaurants. * Crab Spinach Dip - This was also good, more on the drier side but you can taste the crab and cheese. It came with fried pita bread. * Small order of Cioppino - This was so flavorful and it came with crab meat on top. It had mussels, shrimp, and scallops. This dish also came with some fettucine noodles which was great addition to the dish. Also had garlic bread with it and was soooo good. This dish is highly recommended. * Alaskan Sandabs - I tried this and I enjoyed the flavor of the fish and the sauce that came with it. * Calamari Steak - Also tried this and was nice and not chewy at all. They made this really well. * Catch of the Day Margarita - the birthday girl drank two of these but she said it wasn't strong at all but very good. *Chocolate Mousse - This was very rich and yummy, not crazy sweet which was good. This was complimentary birthday dessert. Not sure if it was truly complimentary or if our server gave it to us free because she didn't put one of orders in. Which was great since we had so much food already. lol So I recommend checking on this before agreeing to a birthday treat. Parking is metered in the lot and it only takes cards. So be prepared for that. I look forward to coming here again. It's been such a long time since I've been and I am glad to rediscover this place again. Highly recommend this spot especially on a nice San Diego day!

Came to the Fish Market on a Sunday afternoon with a group of 7. We were seated quickly at a table with a nice view of the port and the naval ship next door. The restaurant was nice and had a typical seafood restaurant vibe. They gave free bread and the menu had plenty of options. I opted for a salad with grilled shrimp. It was yummy and there was a decent amount of shrimp. I liked the food, although it is a bit expensive. The quality was great, so I can see why people would want to come back when they're craving fresh seafood. Overall, a positive experience with yummy food. Only downside is the parking is tough. you can park near seaport village and walk around the area or pay valet for convenience.

Awesome location right downtown - easy to walk to but also parking close by. Amazing menu of fresh seafood, lovely views. Lots of daily specials that can be made. Our server was so kind and welcoming. We loved the New England clam chowder, fresh oysters, Moroccan style swordfish.

I am in shock to see such a low rating for this restaurant. For me my experience was amazing. This place is located at such a prime location in San diego where you eat right by the ocean. Starting with ambience- you have option to sit out or in. I cannot miss the sea view so I opted for outdoor seating. The area is so happening it was really cool to see so much activity on the sea. They have a huge navy ship right beside this restaurant, there were speed boats, large and small boats on the ocean. I also saw barbie themed boat from my table- check my video- such a cool experience. As far as food, I love sea food and they were serving fresh sea food out there. I have added pictures of everything i ordered but majorly we ordered crab cake, sea food smoked sample, baked oysesters, grilled tuna and crab cioppino. These are all there top selling items and all of them were too good. Ordered some drinks too and they were too good as well. Parking could be a bit challenging here, it took me a while to find a spot but I went there on a weekend too so it was packed. Parking is paid metered Parking and they have valet parking option too. From price point of view it's a bit pricey but if you factor in fresh sea food, location and dining with a ocean view - I think it's worth it. I will give it a 8 out of 10 on my DVFM* score. Overall it was a very good experience for me. Good food, great location and view. Have fun *Dees Value for money score

Great option for having sea food next to the water. Fresh fish, delicious plates. I had the Dungennes Crab Cioppino, it was flavorful and delicious. I forgot the name of our server, unfortunately, but service was great and fast. If you are around the San Diego bay area, the fish market is a great option

Every time my wife and I visit San Diego, we always find ourselves at The Fish Market--usually more than once! This place is simply unbeatable when it comes to fresh seafood, incredible flavors, and a perfect waterfront dining experience. I literally dream about their fish and chip combo with shrimp. Every time, I tell myself I'll order grilled fish, but I just can't resist! The batter is unbelievably crispy, yet light enough to let the fish shine. And the shrimp? Absolutely massive and bursting with juicy, sweet flavor. My wife, on the other hand, sticks to their grilled fresh fish, and she's never disappointed. They usually have at least eight different options, including some fantastic local catches. If you can score a table outside by the water--do it! The views are stunning, and you'll want to stay forever. Just a heads-up: since it's tucked right past the USS Midway, it gets busy fast, so plan accordingly. Whether you're a local or just visiting, I highly recommend this spot for a relaxed, top-notch seafood lunch. Can't wait for our next trip back!

Incredible fresh seafood. Chioppino was excellent. Two of us ordered and honestly it was so much food we could have shared. We had James river oysters to start. Beautiful salty brine, clean an nice sized - perfectly chilled! We had calamari which turned out to be some of the best I've had since I was in Italy. One of us had the cashew crusted rainbow trout. I got to have a taste and it was excellent. I'm here in San Diego for a womans conference. 4 days. We ate there Wednesday night and are headed back tonight. I NEVER eat in the same place twice when traveling. This is a first for me but I CANT NOT go back. Service is as good as the food. Nice bay view and within walking distance of most of the bay side hotels. We are in the Manchester Hyatt and it's ,06 miles. Try the fish market. It will not disappoint.
